Her Story

A Life in Music

Laura began playing piano at the age of five and knew from an early age that music would be her life's work. After earning her AMusA diploma and Certificate of Performance with Honours from AMEB, she successfully auditioned for ten Australian music conservatoriums — receiving offers from the University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, ANU, Monash, and more. She chose the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, where she currently studies piano performance under Dr Kenji Fujimura. Laura has been teaching since 2019, bringing the same discipline and passion from her own training into every lesson. Her students consistently achieve strong AMEB results, and she takes pride in making the journey enjoyable — not just the destination. Fluent in both English and Mandarin, Laura welcomes students from all backgrounds and tailors her teaching to each individual's goals, whether that's passing their first AMEB exam or preparing for a conservatorium audition.

Bilingual Teaching

Teaching in English & Mandarin

Laura teaches in both English and Mandarin Chinese and can conduct lessons in either language — or a natural mix of both. This is particularly valuable for younger students or families where Mandarin is spoken at home, allowing technical concepts to land clearly without the barrier of translation.

Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, Laura welcomes students from all cultural backgrounds and finds that bilingual teaching often accelerates learning for students from Mandarin-speaking families in Melbourne’s south-east.
